Grupe Real Estate, a well-known name in California's Central Valley housing market, is closing its single-family resale division after more than five decades of operation. The decision marks the end of an era for the company, which has been a fixture in the region since the early 1970s.
The firm is associated with communities such as Brookside Estates, Quail Lakes and Lincoln Village West, where it built and sold thousands of homes over the years. The resale division handled the secondary market for those same neighborhoods, helping homeowners sell their properties and new buyers move in. Company leadership cited shifting market conditions and a strategic refocus on new home construction and development as the primary reasons for the closure.
Employees in the resale division were notified earlier this week. Some will be reassigned to other parts of the business, while others will receive severance packages. The company plans to honor all active listings and pending transactions until they close. After that, the division will cease operations entirely.
Grupe Real Estate will continue to build new homes and manage its existing portfolio of master-planned communities. The company says it remains committed to the Stockton and Lodi areas, where it has shaped much of the suburban landscape over the last five decades.
