The Ensign Group has completed two separate real estate and operations acquisitions, adding a skilled nursing facility in Iowa and a memory care property in California to its growing portfolio. The company announced that it took over the operations of Woodland Health and Rehabilitation, a 62-bed skilled nursing facility in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, effective June 1, 2026. On the same day, Ensign also acquired the real estate of Memory Care of Contra Costa, a 46-unit facility located in Pleasant Hill, California.
These transactions bring Ensign's total number of healthcare operations to 396 across 17 states. The company continues to expand its footprint in the skilled nursing and senior living sectors, focusing on acquiring well-positioned properties that fit its operational model. The Iowa facility will now operate under Ensign's existing management structure, while the California memory care property adds to the company's presence in the Bay Area market. Ensign has not disclosed the financial terms of either deal, but the acquisitions align with its strategy of steady, targeted growth in long-term care and senior housing.
